The Department of Thermal Power Engineering operates in close cooperation with leading scientists, universities and organizations around the world in the field of energy.

Mohsen Sheikholeslami
PhD, currently working at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Babol Noshirvani University of Technology, Iran. He heads the laboratory of renewable energy sources and the use of nanofluids in heat transfer at the Babol Noshirvani University of Technology.
Research interests: nanofluids, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), modeling, mesoscopic modeling, nonlinear science, magnetohydrodynamics, ferrohydrodynamics, electrohydrodynamics and heat exchangers.
The Hirsch index in 2024 is 133.
He has written several articles and books in various fields of mechanical engineering. He is the first scientist to develop a new numerical method (CVFEM) and to publish a reference: “Application of Control Volume Finite Element Method (CVFEM) to Nanofluid Flow and Heat Transfer.” He is also the first author of the books “Application of Nanofluids to Enhance Heat Transfer,” “Application of Semi-Analytical Methods for Nanofluid Flow and Heat Transfer,” “Hydrothermal Analysis in Engineering Using Control Volume Finite Element Method,” and “External Magnetic Field. Influence on hydrothermal treatment of nanofluids”, published in ELSEVIER. He was selected as a highly cited Web of Science researcher (top 0.01%) in 2016, 2017 and 2018, according to Thomson Reuters (Clarivate Analytics) reports.
Ali Hafiz Muhammad
PhD, currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia.
His main interests are thermal sciences, heat transfer and solar energy. He has supervised numerous undergraduate and graduate students over several years and has written more than 150 articles published in various renowned international journals.
The Hirsch index in 2024 is 10.
He is actively involved in editorial responsibilities of several international journals, notably Heat Transfer Engineering (Taylor & Francis), Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry (Springer), International Journal of Thermofluids (Elsevier), Journal Thermal Science and Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
Varlamov Gennady Borisovich
Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Theoretical and Industrial Heat Engineering of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kiev Polytechnic Institute", Scientific Director of the Scientific and Educational Center "Ecotechnologies and Energy Saving Technologies", Scientific Director of the joint Chinese-Ukrainian Research Laboratory "Modern technologies for increasing the energy and environmental efficiency of energy production.”
Laureate of the State Prize in the field of science and technology, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Laureate of the Golden Badge of Honor of the Scientific and Technical Society of Power Engineers of Poland, Honorary Energy Engineer of Ukraine, Honored Energy Engineer of the CIS, Laureate of the honorary title of Shandong Province (PRC) “Leading Foreign Scientific Expert”, Laureate of the honorary badge "Friendship Medal of Jinan City" of Shandong Province of the People's Republic of China, Laureate of the honorary title "Ambassador of Friendship of Shandong Province" of the People's Republic of China.
Scientific interests concern the development and implementation of:
- New highly efficient technologies, burner systems and devices for burning gaseous fuels in the combustion chambers of gas turbine units (GTUs) and gas turbine engines, furnaces of boilers and heat generators in order to improve the technical, economic, environmental and operational characteristics;
- Development of real projects for the modernization of gas turbine units and various types of boilers with the creation of a new generation of control systems, monitoring and identification of actual parameters and operating characteristics in real time;
- Development of reasonable conditions for multi-parameter load optimization of power equipment;
- Development of optimized schemes and devices for cleaning flue gases when burning biomass (wood chips, sawdust, pellets, firewood, etc.) in thermal units of municipal enterprises;
- Development of highly efficient and environmentally friendly contact heat generators operating on various types of gaseous fuels, incl. on hydrogen.

More than 250 scientific and scientific-methodological works have been published, including 6 textbooks with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 9 textbooks, 6 of which are in English, 12 monographs, more than 25 patents of Ukraine have been received, 6 of which are valid in Russia and 9 Eurasian countries.
Sednin Alexey Vladimirovich
Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Thermal Power Plants, Head of the Research and Innovation Center for Automated Control Systems in Thermal Power Engineering and Industry (NIIC ASU TEP) of the Belarusian National Technical University.
The main areas of scientific activity are thermal power plants, district heating systems, cogeneration plants of various capacities, bioenergy plants based on municipal wastewater.
Over the past 10 years, more than 90 printed works have been published.
In the period from 2005 to 2020, 23 results of research and development activities were introduced into production.
