Training

Responsible for practice: senior teacher Omirbaeva Aizhan Omirbaevna.

The Department of Thermal Power Engineering has the following practice bases: Astana-Energy JSC, Astana-Teplotransit JSC, Ekibastuz Station JSC, NAT Group LLP.

During the training process, students undergo the following types of practice:

• • educational practice - is carried out at the end of the first year of a bachelor’s degree at the university and with an excursion to the department’s practice bases.
  • industrial practice - carried out at the end of the second, third year and in the second semester of the 4th year. Place of the department's practice base, as well as students, on their own initiative, can do internships in other organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad. 
  • pre-diploma practice - carried out in the second semester of the 4th year. The place of the department’s practice base, as well as students, on their own initiative, can undergo internships in other organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad.
  • research practice - carried out in the last semester of master's and doctoral studies. The place of the department’s practice base, as well as students, on their own initiative, can undergo internships in other organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad.

Meeting of students of the Department of Thermal Power Engineering of the L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University with representatives of production at CHPP 2 on issues of cooperation in the areas of education, practice and employment of students.

 

A significant step in bringing the university and industry closer together is the functioning of branches of departments on the basis of enterprises and organizations. One of the dialogue platforms between business and the university was “on-site seminar-meetings”, master classes for students and graduates in thermal power engineering specialties on the basis of Astana-Teplotransit JSC.

 

Employment

Thermal power engineering specialists are in great demand in the labor market of Kazakhstan among employers and stakeholders. The Department of Thermal Power Engineering has a high employment rate for its graduates. Statistics for the last 5 years are shown in the table below. Our graduates have been working in leading energy organizations and economically important industrial enterprises in Kazakhstan for many years.

To assist in the employment of graduates of the Department of Thermal Power Engineering, a job fair is organized annually at the university with the participation of employers and station workers. In November 2023, a job fair was held, 3 employers and about 12 graduates were present from the Department of Thermal Power Engineering.

Leading domestic companies and organizations took part in the events: Joint Stock Company "Astana-Energy", LLP "Astana Kurylys Service", KAZCENTER Housing and Communal Services JSC, Astana-Teplotransit JSC, National Company "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary" JSC, Transtelecom JSC, BI Holding LLP, KEGOC JSC, Hyundai Premium Astana LLP and many others.
