About the Department of «Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport»
Since 2005, the Department of «Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport» of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University has been successfully training highly qualified specialists in the field of transport systems and logistics.
Within the framework of the bachelor's degree students can choose in-demand directions that meet the current requirements of the industry sector:
- 6B11301 - «Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport»;
- 6B11302 - «Logistics (by industries)».
For further professional growth and in-depth study of disciplines the department offers master's programs:
- 7M11301 - «Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport»;
- 7M11302 - «Logistics (by industries)».
Educational programs are focused on the modern challenges of the transport industry and are aimed at training specialists capable of effectively solving problems in the field of transportation, logistics and operation of transport. The training takes place in one of the leading universities of Kazakhstan, which opens wide opportunities for graduates for career and further professional development.
In January 2011, due to the large number of students enrolled in the two special transport departments of «Transport Systems» was divided into two independent departments «Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport» and «Transport, transport equipment and technologies». Department of «Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport» was opened on February 1, 2011 (Resolution of the Academic Council, protocol number 6 ENU. Gumilyov from «28» January 2011). Department of «Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport» was formed as an independent unit on the basis of the order of the rector of ENU. L.N.Gumilyov number 1138-w from 02.09.2011.
The department is headed by candidate of technical sciences Sultanov Timur Tuleugalievich.
The mission of the department as an educational and scientific unit of the university is to train highly qualified and competitive specialists who meet the world standards. The chair actively develops fundamental and applied research in the field of transportation organization, traffic and operation of transport, focusing on the needs of Central Kazakhstan.
Upon completion of studies at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, the following academic degrees are awarded to graduates:
Bachelor's degree in the field of services in the specialties: 6B11301 – «Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport», 6B11302 – «Logistics (by industries)».
Master of Science in specialties: 7M11301 – «Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport», 7M11302 – «Logistics (by industries)».
The department has accreditation certificates confirming the high level of educational programs. In 2021 the specialty 6B11301- «Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport», 7M11301-«Organization of transportation, traffic and operation of transport» was accredited by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) and received the confirmation of high quality of training of specialists, corresponding to international standards, which is accredited for a period of seven years from «27» May 2021.
In 2020 the specialty 6B11302 – «Logistics (by industries)», 7M11302 – «Logistics (by industries)» was accredited by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) and received confirmation of high quality of training of specialists, corresponding to international standards, which is accredited for a period of five years from «20» May 2020.
To strengthen the material and technical base at the department there are four scientific research institutes (SRI), specializing in different areas. The institutes are headed by leading professors and teachers: S.N. Nurakov and T.N. Bekenov, as well as associate professors A.A. Baubek and T.A. Abzalieva.
In 2018 the laboratory building of Educational Production Center “ENU Engineering” was opened, which became an important part of the educational and scientific base of the department.
Today the department has three specialized classrooms:
- Laboratory «Train dispatcher» (aud. 140-05)
- Laboratory «Management of transportation processes» (aud. 140-06)
- Laboratory «Operation of transport» (aud. 140-09)
Besides, in the building there is a modern computer class (aud. 140-09) equipped with the software packages Rail-Atlas and PTV Visum, allowing to model and analyze the transport processes.
In 2024 academic year the department has 4 doctors of technical sciences, 3 PhDs, 4 candidates of technical sciences, 6 senior lecturers and 1 lecturer.
The student contingent for the 2024-2025 academic year is: 362 students.
